Above the Tree Line (Original) 2016 makeover - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 06, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
I wrote this song about my favorite place in the world ... anywhere in the mountains above the tree line. I'm a tundra junkie.

It's a simple song. It's a big song. It's a big simple song for a big simple feeling.

This was my first serious, heartfelt attempt at songwriting. I wrote it probably 6 years ago. I recorded it on the BOSS 600 with the condenser mics and bad processing. It sounded "OK" compared to other things I'd done back then. But it didn't sound like I wanted it to sound.

Today it gets the love it deserved in the beginning. Used Reaper and my real mics. Native American Flute. I programmed the drums myself. And the harmonies turned out ... well let's just say I'm very happy with it.

Above the Tree Line
Phil Leith - Walking Bird Music (2010)

High
Above the tree line
You can see forever (You can see forever)
It's where I wanna be

My
Kind of skyline
No steel wires or concrete (Stone, sky and sunshine)
No clatter of the city

Peace
Peace I find
Out on the alpine tundra (Out on the tundra)
In the wild majesty

Walking
In the sky
Here in God's country (In the high country)
Where my heart is free

Life
Above the tree line
Ancient and timeless (Ancient and timeless)
What a priviledge just to be here

Alive
Above the tree line
For this brief moment (For this brief moment)
But it's mine for eternity
