Blue Dots, a head by Mal Waldron that cleverly bridges Quinichette's origins as a Basie-ite with the more beboppish ambitions of his sidemen, is the opening cut on the album "On the Sunny Side", one of the greatest (and most joyous) of the so-called "blowing sessions" issued by Prestige Records in the 1950s.
