Live, BLING KONG asked amazed crowds to decide the fate of the hero and heroine of their epic adventure: a pair of lovebirds named Snakedawg and Baby Blue. Video projections behind the band illustrated the tale of these two lovers, who, bored with the daily repetition of being in love, seek out something more--only to fall into distressing situations at the hand of BLING KONG. Like the Choose Your Own Adventure stories of our youth, you get to determine the course of events, thus deciding the fate of BK’s set list. Instead of dry instructions to "Turn to page 42," the cheerleaders sing and shout at the decision points, enticing audiences with their options, and the sharply-dressed band follows wherever fans choose to go. The elaborate, tightly choreographed performance was as much art project as it was a rollicking rock show. The world had never before seen anything quite like BLING KONG.The music of BKII is just as fun and ambitious as its story, ranging from ‘80s metal to dance rock, from girly pop to Queen-y rock opera. Reviewers compare the Kong to the B-52’s and AC/DC, often in the same breath.
