Black Fork "PinNaCLe" - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 07, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The tale behind this song is that Josh and Brian found a beat up cassette in the gutter near 46th and Union in Oakland. When they took it home and played it it had this catchy guitar and bass tune that was about 5 seconds long and repeated over and over for the entire length of the cassette. The punks living at the warehouse there named it "The Pinnacle" and would get drunk and play it often for it's hilarity and awesomeness. Josh borrowed/stole that riff for this song so the title was kept out of respect but the song ended up being about the sickness of child pageants and the tragedy of the Jon Benet Ramsey murder.

First runner up aint good enough. Look at me the tragedy.
If you aint number one you aint got the stuff. The tragedy is look at me.
The others will smile even while they cry. Look at me the tragedy.
Now you finally made it you just want to die. The tragedy is look at me now.
With your tiara crown in place you've reached the pinnacle and it shows on your baby face.
I hate to see you suffer so, but thank you for the invitation.
I hear you played your role quite well and were showered with congratulations.

A child is dead on the front page. Look at me the tragedy.
A star is born inside a cage. The tragedy is look at me.
I wish I knew to change the station. Look at me the tragedy.
We suffer from humiliation. The tragedy is look at me now.

That my life's been so misplaced. I've lost too much time. And none can be replaced.
Throughout I stay disatisfied but damned if I could tell you why. With rhinestone this and satin that, I grease my teeth to force a smile.

First runner up aint good enough.
