Her style, her attitude, her presence keeps everyone on the edge of their seats wanting more. She’s overcome obstacles to achieve the recognition that she’s been receiving from anyone who’ve been blessed to hear her rap for the very first time. Already, you got female rapper trying to imitate her Baskin Robbins flavors of rapping. With Black Diamond you never know what you’re going to get; but once you get it, believe me you’ll be asking for more. Born as Tanicha Nicola Lewis, in Kingston , Jamaica this little diva migrated to Long Island , NY when she was three-years old. Known to family and close friends as “Extra” for her dramatic ways, Black Diamond has for a long time been prophesized as a star. With a love of fashion and attention, she joined many organizations such as modeling, kick-line, cheerleading, dance, drama and chorus, just to name a few. She also won many beauty pageants and talent shows which fed her hunger for the spotlight. With a family filled with music, Black Diamond couldn’t escape the performing arts. With her father, as a Reggae producer, and her mother as an aspiring artist, Black Diamond trained herself to perform in front of an audience. She also spend many times in Maryland where her aunts and uncle started the first Reggae Band in Baltimore called the “Determination Band.” At the tender age of six, Black Diamond was collecting money for dancing and making up raps. She finally got to debut her dancing skills when she danced in Beenie Man’s Dance Hall Queen Music Video at the age of fifteen. She also began to push her acting skills when she played in Larry Brooks’s first film and featured in episodes in the Jamaica sitcom called “ Sparks .” Now years later she has relocated to Baltimore and is giving everyone a taste of her unique flavor. When one listens to Black Diamond, she takes you all around the world in one verse. Her songs will make you get on your feet even if you don’t want to. She’s laid back yet her flow is bananas. Always mixing up her styles, Black Diamond customize and alter any track so it snuggly fit to her persona. She rides each bar like a roller-coaster and it seems like she’s never going to stop. Now on her family-owned independent label, J.B.R Dynasty, Black Diamond is paving the way for other female rapper in Baltimore . Black Diamond is now working on her first LP titled, “Profound Confusion,” with singles as: “Rock the house”, “Big Dipper”, featuring her cousin Keisha who’s her label mate, and “Hush little baby” with lyrics as such: “Your child is a bastard/ How could you cast that/ You are to blame hit this knowledge and pass that/ Take it like a big girl like you took the di*k/ It’s blood test time now your sweat is running thick.” If you can’t take the heat get the hell out of the industry because Black Diamond is bringing straight Fire!
