The expression of Jussi Bjorling - Video

DESCRIPTION:
I have not uploaded as much as I should have, it’s a been a busy summer. So its time to get back to my mission, uploading wonderful videos for wonderful artists. This is segment from the 2013 documentary Jussi: He sang with a Tear in His Voice. It’s a beautiful documentary film that should be seen from beginning to end. The title is appropriate to his subtle and honest artistry, and the moment I have chosen explains the title a little more and the demons this man faced.

I thought this would be especially valuable for educational and discussion purposes by shedding more light on the life experience in his singing. The quote, “Jussi sang the blues,” used in this documentary could have been an equally fitting title.
Through rare footage and intimate stories shared by his colleagues and family, we get to meet a man of great sweetness and surprising modesty, who was perhaps happiest when he was walking in nature. He is warmly remembered here as a career man of the highest level of professionalism but also an adoring parent. However, as he attained world-wide acclaim and the fortune that many dream of, we gain glimpses of a man not at peace. There really was a prince who longed named Calaf, a sad clown named Canio in him, a doomed king like Gustav, a thoughtful poet- Rudolfo, the tortured son Carlo and many of his other roles lived in him. The toll that the characterization of a role took on him emotionally and the genuine outpourings of feelings that observers saw I think is something even his detractors would be moved by and value.

I must say this video is impressive array of home videos and rare footage both backstage and onstage and striking photographs, and guess what? Beautiful singing :)
