Desafinado by Antonio Carlos Jobim is a Bossanova classic- A live performance by The Tavares Brazilian Jazz Quintet featuring Bill McBirnie at The Trane Studio in Toronto on October 9, 2010 .The Tavares Brazilian Jazz Quintet, performs classic bossa novas and sambas from well-known Brazilian composers such as Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Luis Bonfa, Joao Gilberto etc. This Quintet features very talented and seasoned jazz musicians as well who specialize in Brazilian music, providing inspired and authentic performances. Most of the repertoire is sung, in Portuguese, by guitarist/vocalist, Pedro Joel, who recently arrived in Canada from Portugal. Solos are the main responsibility of world-renowned flutist, Bill McBirnie, with Fernando Tavares sharing the load as well as comping and providing beautiful harmonies on piano. Carlos (Caco), originally from Brazil, lays down the groove as only a bona fide Brazilian drummer can and Paco Luviano on Bass brings it all together for a truly dynamic and energetic performance.
