NEC faculty, students, and special guests pay musical tribute to directors
Alfred Hitchcock and Claude Chabrol

Legendary noir pianist/composer/improviser Ran Blake and co-producer and trombonist Aaron Hartley present a multimedia celebration of pioneer British film director Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt, and renowned French film director Claude Chabrol's Le Boucher.

Undeniably tied together following the release of Claude Chabrol's influential 1957 book on Hitchcock, both directors shared a creative and thematic commonality in how they portrayed suspense, beauty, and tragedy. Throughout their distinguished careers many of their films ultimately set a directorial standard presently used in many contemporary psychological thrillers.

Students of NEC's Contemporary Improvisation Film Noir Ensemble --- along with special guests Bruce Brubaker, Frank Carlberg, Anthony Coleman, Jason Horowitz, Jerry Leake, Eden MacAdam-Somer, Sarah Jarosz, Maria Hee Jin Kim, Timothy Lienhard, Greta DiGiorgio, Hankus Netsky, Eleni Odoni, Cory Pesaturo, Ken Schaphorst's NEC Jazz Orchestra, Full Tang, and The Sail Away Ladies, will perform in response to the plots, moods, scenes, spirit, and music of these two films.
