Flutes by the Score presents: 'A Sci-Fi Teaser' concert for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's Musicians in the Making for their Sci-Fi programme Sept 29, 2013 featuring the members of Sweet Silver and Silver Winds Flute Choirs, directed by Monica Bailey.

Programme Notes: Bert Lochs, Dutch born in 1966, is one of the best jazz trumpet players of the 20th century. He was originally classically trained, but Lochs quickly fell in love with jazz through big band music. We hope that Highway Blues and Gentle Brass puts you in the mood for the concert you are about to hear with the Symphony. Star Trek and other Sci-Fi shows grew up around this funky kind of sound, and it was often used in their night club scenes.
