German composer and organist Karl Norbert Schmid (1926–1995) was born in Ochsenhausen and was educated in Regensburg and Stuttgart. He served for many years as composer and teacher in Regensburg. Schmid was an active figure in developing new German language liturgical music following Vatican II.
