DESCRIPTION: Pierre Dewey LaFontaine, Jr., better known as Pete Fountain, was a legendary New Orleans jazz performer. He brought the traditional jazz of his native city to a national audience through frequent appearances on television. He performed for presidents and a pope, making him an international ambassador for jazz and culture. He died August 6 at the age of 86. The second line begin at St. Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square, turned right on St. Peter Street, then left on Royal Street, finishing at the Monteleone.
