Bellevue Vision

In 2005 Otto Cuppens and Roel Brems had a musical vision of a perfected blend of folk and rock. Back then, Otto Cuppens, a young veteran originating from the hip-hop-scene of Tienen, was writing songs inspired by Bob Dylan’s excellent songwritingmaterial. Roel Brems used to be bassplayer of ‘Oversized’. This punkrockband was born in 1997. The first CD was released in 2001: Happy inbetween or sad. Some songs received airplay on radio stations like "Studio Brussel". In 2002 Oversized began playing all over Belgium. They played at festivals like Suikerrock, Strandfuif and Marktrock, with bands like De Mens and Therapy? Appreciation increased, resulting in a couple of gigs abroad: France, The Netherlands, Denmark. With the assistance of Guy Swinnen, Oversized won the rockcontest Rockvonk in 2003. This was an ideal setting for recording the last full-cd Are you one of them, released in 2004. To make this vision concrete, Roel planned to start a Bob Dylan coverband. In those days, Otto used to work on old traditionals with Jasper Stockmans, former guitarist of 'Oversized' and founder of the folk-formation ‘The Nursery Rhyme’. As a singer-songwriter-duo, Otto and Jasper had allready done a couple of gigs together and Jasper joining the band seemed to be quite obvious. The resulting trio didn’t have to look far for a good drummer and added Xander Stockmans. This young veteran of local the scene, had allready played in quite a lot of bands and fitted perfectly in the existing trio. After a while of working on interpretations of Bob Dylan classics, the band started to look for perfect outfits for Otto’s own songmaterial. The personalities of these four youngsters meshed perfectly. In combination with Xander’s energetic battery, Roel’s rumbling bass lines and trained eye for arranging folkrocksongs in the ’70 tradition, provided a powerfull fundament. Jasper’s dreamy guitarpatterns and frenzied guitarsolo’s seemed to mix well with the lyrical imagery and splendid voice of Otto Cuppens. In 2007 the band decided to name itself after the vision from wich it all started: Bellevue Vision.
