Since 2006 The Nursery Rhyme is known as the band of singer/songwriter Jasper Stockmans. In 2009 The Nursery Rhyme presents a debut ep with head- and heartstrong popsongs and a subtle sixties-seventies touch. The warm voice of storyteller Jasper Stockmans combined with kinky songs, percussive piano playing, cool drumbeats, smooth baselines, tearing violins, melancholic strings and reaping organs, define the dreamy and sometimes spooky, but easy-going sound of The Nursery Rhyme.

However, Jasper's skillful songwriting style was foreshadowed by a musical career with a punkband called Oversized. This band released 2 CD's and some songs received airplay on Studio Brussel. Oversized played at festivals like Suikerrock and Marktrock, and with bands like De Mens and Therapy?. Appreciation increased, resulting in a victory in the rockcontest Rockvonk and several gigs in France, The Netherlands and Denmark. Influenced by bands like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Zombies, The Kinks, Donovan, Bob Dylan,. Jasper became interested in a new world. When he finished the search for excellent musicians for a new project, The Nursery Rhyme was born.

The Nursery Rhyme started to perform in the supporting programme of bands like Absynthe Minded & Sukilove and started doing gigs in Brussel (VUB KultuurKaffee), Leuven (STUK, Kulturama, Depot), Oostende (Theater Aan Zee), Dranouter ('t Folk Muziekcentrum), Antwerpen (Arenbergschouwburg),. Airplay on radiostations like Radio 1 and Studio Brussel for the song ‘Bet On You’ completed the picture. In 2009 The Nursery Rhyme started recording a debut ep with producer Pascal Deweze (Sukilove, Metal Molly). The ep will be released on Sugarbeat, the new recordlabel of singer/songwriter Anton Walgrave. In 2010 the first full-album will become a reality.
