Be Bop Deluxe may be an acquired taste, but I've drank of it through my ears into my brain for decades. Though the studio albums are good to great, this is a band whose strong point lies in live performance, as "Live in the Air Age" so profoundly demonstrates!

Live, Be Bop Deluxe can start & stop on a dime. Prog rock, funk, & even jazz fusion runs through this recording's veins, like hot lava shooting up a volcano shaft! In command of all of this, is the godly guitar of Bill Nelson! His shimmering sustain, brilliant phrasing, & sharp as a scalpel tone, dominate this true document of a band that had few peers live. Especially evident is Nelson's ethereal guitar on pieces like "Sister Seagull," though there is amazingly well constructed solos through out this album!

Sit back & enjoy a band at their best, that was just a footnote in the total scheme of rock n' roll, but a foot note of gigantic proportion, in a time when the golden age of rock was upon us!
