Soul has always been and will surely remain the starting point for some of the best house music ever created. As far as some sub-genres have progressed and moved away from its original influence, soul was integral to the development of house, and its impact is still very much in evidence to this day. As the scene continues to move on, Bargrooves Soulful Sessions 2.0 is a celebration of both the finest current and the very best classic soul-influenced house music.
Compiled and mixed by Defected A&R and resident DJ Andy Daniell, Bargrooves Soulful Sessions 2.0 features soulfully-minded cuts from some of the globe's most reputable producers, with uplifting praise vocals, deep and heady grooves and infectious, tribal rhythms thrown down by a cast list of established masters and rising stars.
Boasting appearances from Deetron, Kerri Chandler, Kings of Tomorrow, Yousef, Cajmere, DJ Spen, Nick Curly and 4th Measure Men and compiled on two discs, Soulful Sessions 2.0 includes 30 tracks - unmixed and unadulterated - as well as two bonus mixes courtesy of Andy Daniell.
Here you'll find Nick Curly's deeper rendition of Dennis Ferrer 'Mind Ur Step' alongside the eerie oscillation of Kerri Chandler's, 'Oblivion'. FCL's uplifting Gentil Mix of 'Follow The Step' joins MK's remix of his own moniker 4th Measure Men 'Given'. Soulful Sessions 2.0 also includes two of Copyright's stand out recent tunes 'My Desire' and 'Cross My Heart', Kidnap Kid's chillingly emotional 'Thin Lines' and the 90's hit 'Ooh Song' from German house legend Mousse T.
