INDIGENOUS LOS ANGELES BASED BAND AZTLAN UNDERGROUND HONORS SPRING EQUINOX WITH NEW SONG, ETERNAL

Los Angeles, CA (March 20, 2013): Indigenous hip-hop and post-punk rock band Aztlan Underground honors the re-emergence of the spring by releasing their newest single Eternal, on the spring equinox, March 20, 2013. The release of Eternal, is another addition to the band's seasonal series honoring celestial movements and the rhythms of nature. The single is a follow up to their groundbreaking winter solstice release entitled In Realignment and will be available as a soft-launch on their soundcloud and youtube pages.

The new single, engineered and co-produced by Yaotl MC 10 Eagle, continues in the creative vein of what Aztlan Underground calls Native Noise Core. The track is a textural soundscape of off-beat rhythms and poetic drones of love for life. When asked about their influences in creating this new sub-genre, the band members offer up the following quote:

"Glorious preceded by the futurist poets and audio painters beautiful with violence daring with rebellion and illuminous with the animation of genius.....the art of noise" - Francesco Ballila Pratella (Oct. 11, 1910)

The spring equinox witnesses the equal balance of day and light. For many ancient cultures it represents the male and female forces, procreation, and new beginnings. The spring brings an outburst of life and a chance to begin again. According to the Mayan "Tzolkin" calendar, the spring equinox supports the idea of renewal with greater wisdom and a stronger grasp toward one's purpose.

About Aztlan Underground

Aztlan Underground's music reveals the unrestrained voices of global indigenous peoples combining hypnotic Native rhythms with modern industrial sounds. For 20 years, they have cultivated a grassroots audience across the world from Europe to Australia and Canada to South America. At home, they are an institution influencing a new generation of musicians, bands, and free-thinkers. They challenge their audience to look within, to their own life-giving forces, in order to reach their full human potential.

Aztlan Underground has independently produced and distributed three albums: Decolonize (1995), Sub-Verses (2001), and the self-titled album Aztlan Underground (2009). The band's albums reflect a process of self-discovery and realization evolving from the anger of Decolonize to the self-titled album featuring an evolution towards a more global, humanitarian struggle.

Aztlan Undergrounds seasonal series releases include: Our Nature (Spring Equinox 2012), Sacred Arrow Sun (Summer Solstice 2012), Vote for Nobody (Autumn Equinox 2012), and In Realignment (Winter Solstice 2012).
