DESCRIPTION: This song - written by Jon Fromer around 1970 and recorded by his nephew Reed in 2014 - tells of the legend of Sadako, the young victim of Hiroshima who tried to fold 1000 paper cranes in order to have her wish for peace in the world come true. According to the story, she died from radiation sickness before she could finish the task - but her example inspired youth all across Japan to pick up the torch and become advocates for peace between civilizations.
