Ashram's "Fairy Wind" has recently been used by the advertising agency Ogilvy in collaboration with WWF for a short video-clip "Tiger evolution ends" produced to support a wildlife conservation campaign launched in China recently.

The embryo of the band was formed in June '97 when
Sergio Panarella and Luigi Rubino first started collecting ideas for the
project that would later be known as Ashram. While undergoing the writing
process of their first ever release, the duo invited Alfredo Notarloberti,
the notorious napolitan violinist, to take their side in this ambitious
project. With the line-up complete, the band recorded eleven songs out
of which seven were selected and included on the demo "For My Sun",
self-released in May'99. The remarkable energy and empathy between these
musicians granted them an appearance as the opening track on Energeia's
compilation &147;Intimations of Immortality Vol. 5&148; with the song
"Spirit of the Rising Moon", and drew some media attention to
this emmerging band. Shortly after, Ashram signs with the French label
Prikosnovenie.



In 2001, the line-up is expanded as Leonardo Massa joins the group o, thus completing the ensemble that would participate in the recording
of the critically acclaimed debut self-titled album released in the following
year. This new release was followed by intense live activity, as the band
performed innumerous shows in Italy and even a couple of tours in Portugal.



After a period of reflexion, Ashram are now presenting their second full-length
recording, under the title "Shining Silver Skies", and out via
Equilibrium Music in May 2006.
La line-up degli Ashram è composta da: Luigi Rubino (piano) Sergio Panarella (voce) Alfredo Notarloberti (violino) L'embrione della band si formò nel Maggio '98 con la fusione delle idee di Sergio e Luigi che si completarono subito dopo con l'inserimento di Alfredo, definendo così il suono che ancora oggi caratterizza le nostre composizioni. Il primo brano composto fu "for my Sun" che è anche il titolo della demo-Cd che fu registrata a cavallo tra Maggio '97 e Marzo '99 con approccio praticamente live, infatti registrammo 11 brani esclusivamente con piano, violino e voce. Da questi scegliemmo 7 brani da inserire nella demo autoprodotta "for my Sun" e subito la band iniziò un'intensa attività live nei locali di Napoli. L'esordio discografico avviene con la partecipazione alla compilation prodotta dalla label ENERGEIA "Intimations of Immortality Vol. 5" con il brano "Spirit of the rising moon" versione demo. Nel 2001 entra a far parte del gruppo il violoncellista Leonardo Massa, collaborando con il gruppo fino alla realizzazione cd omonimo di debutto con la label francese PRIKOSNOVENIE nel 2002 e successivamente partecipa alle sessioni di registrazione del secondo album "Shining Silver Skies" uscito nel Maggio '06 e prodotto dalla label portoghese Equilibrium Music.
