As high quality sample libraries are becoming less expensive and readily available to the average user, more and more aspiring composers have turned to these libraries for their own use.

Sadly, while the quality of the libraries have gone up, that doesn't necessarily mean the midi realizations will sound more "real".

Here are eight things I do regularly to achieve more "realistic" sounds from my libraries.

I am primarily an East West user. I love the EW products, however, contrary to popular belief, they don't always sound spectacular "out of the box". It takes careful sequencing and mixing to use them to their full potential.
