Album Reviews : Cozy Endings by Artanker Convoy - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 29, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
Released in 2007 on The Social Registry records.

Artanker is the name of the drummer, so I'm guessing this supposed to be some sort of drummer led jazz fusion music. It's pretty smooth, if somewhat unsurprising stuff. Don't expect any freak outs and sound experiments here. Just some calm, smooth jazz. No twists and shifts, just some nice mid tempo soul jazz.

Some members of this group have played with LCD Soundsystem, Princess Superstar and The Oranges, but the Convoy don't really share any of their sounds.

This sounds more like soundtrack music to some old 70's detective movie or maybe for a high class porno.

Not much to explain here. The album comes with a DVD that couples the songs in some trippy visuals. It has a woman's ass for a cover. I bought it. What can I say ?

Fans of Tortoise or smooth jazz might want to check it out, but I don't find anything especially special about it. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but also not the least bit groundbreaking. Decent chill out music, but not much else.
