Here is Louis Armstrong's first recording Session with Joe "King" Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, recorded at the Gennett Studios in Richmond,Indiana on April 6, 1923. Also sitting in this session was Baby Dodds on Drums, Johnny Dodds on Clarinet, Lil Hardin on :Piano, King Oliver on first Cornet, Honore Dutry on Trombone, and Bill Johnson on Banjo. On the flip side is "Just Gone' the very first recording from that session. Composers for Canal Street Blues are credited as Oliver and Armstrong. The Talking Machine is an original Type 3 Victor with an original Smooth Oak Horn, double spring motor, and Exhibition Reproducer and bullet Brake.
