Musik zwischen den Zeiten und Welten
Seit Jahren bekannt im Bereich Darkwave, Industrial und Ritual erfährt ARCANA OBSCURA seit 2003 eine neue musikalische Ausrichtung in mittelalterliche, klassische und mystisch archaische Klanglandschaften.
Ihr Anliegen ist es, mittelalterliche Instrumente, historische und internationale Texte und experimentelle Computersound¬col¬lagen mit dem Gesang von drei sehr unterschiedlichen ausdrucksstarken weiblichen Stimmen zu mischen, die es verstehen, den Hörer in verschiedene Epochen und sehnsuchtsvolle Welten zu entführen.
Musik/ Performance:
Mystische Gesänge und Tänze aus verschiedenen Kontinenten und Epochen dieser Welt verschmelzen mit hypnotische Rhythmen und starten eine Klangreise in die archaische Welt von ARCANA OBSCURA.
Durch das Wechselspiel von aggressivem Shouting, den einfühlsamen Female-Vocals und dem Kehlkopfgesang verbindet sich atmosphärisch Düsteres mit gefühlvollen Phantasiewelten.
In die Musik und die Performance von ARCANA OBSCURA fliesen unter anderem Folk und Tribal Elemente des Orients, der slawischen Völker aus dem Balkan und des Mittelalters ein. Alten Melodien und Texten wird neues Leben eingehaucht. Die spirituelle Kraft der magischen Texte, wie z.B. des Merseburger Zauberspruchs (mittelalterliche Zauberformel/ Lösungsspruch) verbindet sich mit meditativen Klanglandschaften und gemeinsam mit den kraftvollen elektronischen Beats und Percussion lässt sie Bilder von mystischen Welten entstehen in denen man Phantasiewesen wie Engeln oder auch kämpferischen Amazonen begegnet.
Dieses Bild wird live durch eine Performance verstärkt, die nicht nur die betörenden „Tribal Fusion Bellydance“ Elemente beinhaltet, sondern auch Engelsflügel und sogar die Klingen von Schwertern tanzen lässt.
Open Air verstärkt die Kraft des Elements Feuer das Gesamtbild in Form einer integrierten Feuershow.
ARCANA OBSCURA lieferten mit der letzen CD “LIES” ein knalliges Electro Album ab.
Wuchtig-treibende Beats, wummernd-pulsierende Bässe und vollgepackt mit potenziellen Clubhits.
Durch das Wechselspiel von aggressivem shouting und den zusätzlichen einfühlsamen female Vocals verbindet sich atmosphärisch Düsteres mit eingängig Melancholischem.
Zu dem neuen Album ”LIES” gab es mit ”EVIDENCE” eine spezielle MCD für DJs. Diese enthält bei einer kleinen limitierten Auflage noch einen zusätzlichen Nonalbum Remix des Titelsongs und mit “Playing God” einen der Hits vom letzten Album “Extract”.
Nachdem die erste Auflage der EVIDENCE DJ-edition bereits vergriffen ist, gibt es jetzt Nachschub, diese wird jetzt auch vermehrt für Fans, und nicht nur den DJs zugänglich gemacht. Mit der Neuauflage haben nun auch zwei neue Remixe ihren Weg auf diese CD gefunden. So befinden sich jetzt neben den Clubhits “Evidence (Clandestine Mix)”, “Stella Splendens (Club Mix)” und “Playing God (Din Remix)” noch zwei neue Mixe von “Lies (Evidance Mix)” und “Train (Vers.II)” außerdem ein brandneuer Song “Gates Of Silence” und ein kurzer Demotrack, zur in Arbeit befindlichen Sampling CD.

ARCANA OBSCURA are back after several trips through medieval and mystical fields, with their brand new CDs “LIES” and "EVIDENCE".
They present an infectious electro album with powerful blasting rhythm and pulsing basses, packed with dancefloor hits.
By mixing aggressive shouting and sensitive female vocals a blending is created of gloomy atmospheres and catchy melodies.
In its present form ARCANA OBSCURA exists since 1990. Its musical work started more than a decade ago: Originally working in the experimental field (like, f.e. Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno, Vangelis) there has been more and more influence from the sound of the 80ies ( Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, DAF). After the last period as "BIZARRGGHHH", using various tape-recorders and old analogue sequencers, finally as ARCANA OBSCURA also computers and samplers took part in the music. The old equipment, of course, which has been collected and developed for many years, still plays an important role in ARCANA OBSCURAs sounds.
They can be described as a multiplex mixture of doomy melancholy combined by experimental soundtracks, which, depending to their atmosphere, develop from Dark-Wave to Electronic-Body-Music and even to Industrial.
Beside of ARCANA OBSCURA exist the projects "GÄBHARD", a very instrumental work of the musician, and of course his industrial noise band DISASTROUS DIN. ARCANA OBSCURA also takes part in other groups: so by SONICGUM and WHITE LIGHT WHITE HEAT or together with Peter Fleschhut as CLANDESTINE and with Angelika Meindl as PROWL (formerly known as TAPESTRY) originally is a project of Angelika M.Meindl, who is also the founder of ArtGenossen. Angelika Meindl, who is famous for her choreographies of contemporary dancing, has cooperated with artists like Blixa Bargeld, the Statled Insects and Chriss Karer. For PROWL she is responsible for lyrics and vocals. Thomas Gäbhard (Arcana Obscura) was responsible for the music and its realisation. For the PROWL-project sometimes also some old songs of Arcana Obscura are used, which are modified to an appropriate degree: So the song Angel, for example, was created from the basic structure of Outside, and Hast du in meine Augen gesehen from Sweet Fears and Stone Talk.
Live on stage ARCANA OBSCURA were presented for the first time on Munichs Theatron-Open-Air in summer 1993. It was followed by concerts supporting DIE FORM, CALL and 1995 a tour with DIVE and KIRLIAN CAMERA trough Germany and Belgium and 1998 as one of the headliner on the The power of a new aeon festival.
In April 1994 the 9-track-mini-LP "ARCANA OBSCURA" was published. Additional tracks were presented on the "Essence of ConSequence" -compilations which have been issued since May 1994. In spring 1995 ARCANA OBSCURAs debut-CD "Delusion" was published, finding very positive remarks in Europes independent-music press. The MCD "Pain" followed in the same year. 1998 with the "Fields of the Lost" CD was the up to now peak of interest reached. Some more songs were published, f.e. on the "Touched by the Hand of Goth"-compilations I & II, the Discordia-compilation "Taste This IV", two "Gothic-Magazin"-compilations, the Belgician "Side-Line"-compilation, "Miroque"- I & II, "Dark Ages 1&3", "Abby-Club-Hits" a.m.o.
Four tracks of ARCANA OBSCURAs album "Delusion" are also soundtracks in Fabian Klaturas science-fiction thriller "Cleaner" (Pure Illusion Films). Some more soundtrack projects are in preparation.
ARCANA OBSCURAs album "Themes from Doom" with 16 songs will be able to enjoy the audience with various ear-wigs and unconventional dancefloor hits.
Also these CD is again a good mixture from various electronic musicstyles. It is not only a remix-album, as more as an perfect together of new-songs, remixes of hits (Evoke, Theme from Doom, Decades, a.m.o.) and for the first time also versions of the side-projects (Disastrous Din, Clandestine, Tapestry) with different guest-musicans.
Since the work on various new albums of Arcana Obscura unfortunately has come to a little halt, the spontaneous decision was made to publish a special appetizing album named EXTRACT.
Instead of three or four pre-issued singles only, this album will present three songs of each of the forthcoming four CDs, partly as remixes, and in addition, of course, new tracks exclusively issued on EXTRACT.
