Camille Saint-Saëns - "The Aquarium," VII, from The Carnival of the Animals - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 11, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
In 'Aquarium' from 'Le carnaval des animaux', Saint-Saëns takes his listeners on a journey beneath the surface of the water, offering them a musical glimpse into the world of creatures who live their lives in the seas, in rivers, lakes, and ponds. In this movement, the utter alien nature of the aquatic world surfaces, allowing listeners to become a part of this world, immersing them in sounds that mimic aspects of the watery environment. The piece shimmers and glistens, darts back and forth as movements of the fish, pulsates with the currents of the water.
