Moments in Sound for Ensemble
Ensemble Modern
The current works of the Swiss composer, who was influenced and inspired by such renowned teachers as Wolfgang Rihm, Rudolf Kelterborn and Cristóbal Halffter, reveal to just what extent this is the case. Éclairs.
Moments in Sound for Ensemble (2013), gives the apparent paradox of an uninterrupted progression of interruptions an impressively sensual presence.
The work consists of eleven short episodes that could hardly be more varied and yet are connected by resting sounds.
Latently effective common ideas and a strict formal structure ensure that these moments of sound do not remain isolated but come together to form a progression, which has, in retrospect, a compelling aspect, without losing the sudden presence of each and every moment.
