Anton Walgrave has taken some interesting turns in his career. His 2000 debut album The Hum was acclaimed by the press and knowing fans. The CD was recorded in London and produced by Kevin Armstrong.(Thomas Dolby,David Bowie, Youssou NDour, Morrissey,.). In 2003 there was Before the dawn, a dark, haunting CD combining strong songwriting and tasteful electronics. The single Awake enjoyed a lot of radio airplay and made it onto several compilations.
In 2005 he started working with Frank Vanderlinden(De mens) as a producer.
Michel Shelle Dierickx(Deus,TCMatic,) recorded and mixed everything. Mario Goossens (Hooverphonic, Triggerfinger,.) played drums. The bass parts were shared by Hans Mullens (Buscemi,.) and fellow Mens Michel De Coster. Aram Van Ballaert and Geoffrey Hautvas played guitar. The rest was done by Anton and Frank themselves.
Seven days of mixing (in Brussels ICP Studio) were needed to finish the job. The full CD, entitled Shine, was released on April 3th 2006.
His next album came out in april 2008, and is called 'Every Night You Pray'. Anton writes, records and mixes (with Luc Weytjens) in his own Sugarbeat studio and for the first time does the production himself. Exciting and cathartic, a strong mix of soft and loud, fast and slow, laughter and tears. Sharp but mild, more ironic than cynical, and always a bit tongue-in-cheek. Up-tempo pop numbers make up a gracious whole with slower songs and haunting ballads. 'Every Night You Pray' is diverse, intense and raw, poetic, to the point and adventurous.
After the release of "Every night you pray", Anton decided to start up his own Label, Sugarbeat. His Currently recording a new album for that label. Mario Goossens is doing the production and John Morand is recording and mixing. The album will be released in 2010.
