Ansatz der Maschine is the indietronica project of soundtech Mathijs Bertel. He samples and distords acoustic sounds to create fascinating beats and fairly-like melodies. Live on stage with a brilliant four piece.

OCTOBER 2004: The band released their first EP, called “hide for the beast”(independent). The innovating tracks got them to win the CJP-contest "Het jong 2004", designed to give young artists some promotion (and a cash price of 5000 euro). The media attention this generated resulted in a bunch of live shows. Ansatz der Maschine also joined the belgian elctronica collective "Je m'en fish".

DECEMBER 2006, Vlas Vegas records (galatasaray, hitch,) released the long awaited debut album "The postman is a girl". Following the release, "over exposed frozen stars"(the single) was featured in "Arriba!", a hitlist compiled by the music journalists of "Studio Brussels (Belgian national Radio)" for 7 weeks!

The good promotion of Ansatz der maschine's official debut-cd resulted in a lot of nice shows like playing the support of "Do make say think ",”The Album Leaf” ," Bonobo ", "Hanne Hukelbergh" ,"The go find”, “Mono” , “Eels”,…

In clubs like: AB (Brussels, Be), t’Paard (the hague, Nl), 013 (Tilburg, Nl), W2 (denbosch, Nl), Le grand mix (Lille, Fr), 4 AD (diksmuide, Be), CACTUSClub (Brugge, Be), STUK (Leuven, Be), Mochvarra (Zagreb, Hr),.

MARCH 2007: The band played a live radio session in Belgians most important alternative radio-program "Duyster" on Studio Brussels. One track of this session features on the Studio Brussel compilation record “Duyster 3” released by Pias (together with bands like, Low, Coco rosie, Joan as a policewoman,…)

FEBRUARY 2008: kick off, of the first eurotour who takes ansatz der maschine to the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.

Ansatz der Maschine's number has in the meantime grown to 4 during live sets. On stage: a small brass section, keys, drums, guitars, violin and a whole bunch of electronic stuff
