Hills, Mangesen, and Herdman are three of the finest singers in folk music today. The song, beautifully rendered here by the trio, is a traditional cowboy ballad learned a trailhand while he was ill in the hospital. The Colorado Trail itself ran 500 miles through rugged country from Denver to Durango and was used for cattle drives during the golden age of the Old West (1865-1890).
