Daniel Nii Ankrah a.k.a BlackJack was brought up in a lively and musical Ghanaian family. He has always been a performer and loved to impersonate Michael Jackson's dance moves/singing, which was one of many influences which inspired him to make his own music.
BlackJack has been making tunes since he was 4, when him and his sisters (Ayika - www.myspace.com/ayika - and Ama - www.myspace.com/1ama) started playing around on their Dad's organ player and writing songs.
He has been singing since he was 5 and started producing aged 15 starting on Music 1, then onto Music 2000, both on the Playstation. He then moved onto Logic and Cubase.
In July 2005 he started working with Reason 2.5 on a PC, he has since moved to Reason 4 on an Apple Mac as of July 2009.
He was previously a solo artist performing under the name DA'man at Linbo1 studios. In that time he performed at Bristol's Carling Academy at 'The Urban Showcase' which was hosted by Timmi Magic (The Dreem Team). He and his sister Ayika also helped produce a track with Timmi for their managers band, Focus.

Nowadays he is apart of the group Circle Of Funk
(www.myspace.com/circleoffunk), on the Slapped Up Soul label (www.myspace.com/slappedupsoul) *WHO ARE IN HIS TOP FRIENDS*. He is also producing tracks for his wife Helen - (www.myspace.com/sweetsince86).
COMING SOON - Look out for new tracks here & on the Circle Of Funk page/Slapped Up Soul label!!

Circle of Funk are a Bristol and London based collective of DJ's, producers and musicians who first made their name on the nineties UK hip hop circuit as The Cutz, who featured as DMC Finalists and were guest for the likes of Tim Westwood on BBC Radio One.

Itching to move forward it was only a matter of time before they were seduced by the house music bug altogether. Back in 2001, the COF boys cut their teeth pounding out four by four beats by securing a break at one of DJ Deli G's club nights in Bristol.
Continuing their assimilation and delivery for quality house and fusions of jazz-funk Circle Of Funk's third ep 'Fear Of Time' on Slapped Up Soul records is a digital release ripe for the dance floor which is already being heavily rotated on DJ Footloose's 1 Xtra radio show & supported by the likes of Phil Asher (Restless Soul), Domu, Daz I kue (Bugz in the attic), Abicah Soul, Sy Sez (Aphrodisiacs), Laurent Garnier, Paul Trouble Anderson, Lady Duracell, Dj Deep (Paris) Melchoyr A (France), Marcia Carr (Lady Bugz), Jamie Topham (Cd Pool/Sony) just to name a few.
