Dès son jeune âge, Anik Jean s'intéresse au blues et à l'univers du spectacle. Elle n'a que 11 ans lorsqu'elle exprime le souhait de devenir une auteure-compositrice-interprète. Il n'en fallait pas moins qu'un spectacle de David Bowie, auquel elle assiste avec sa mère, pour la convaincre de devenir musicienne. Elle apprend les rudiments de la guitare, de la flûte, du piano et s'approprie le titre d'artiste libre. Les années défilent et elle vit en Gaspésie, à Los Angeles, à Montréal. Sur sa route, elle rencontre des personnalités aussi allumées qu'elle, dont Jean Leloup avec qui elle réalisera son premier album.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LE TRASHY SALOON (2005)
C'est au printemps 2005 que le premier extrait d'Anik Jean fait son entrée en radio. Elle gravie rapidement les pôles positions avec la pièce Je suis partie. L'extrait suivant intitulé Junkie de toi connaîtra un sort encore plus retentissant que le précédent. L'album Le Trashy Saloon fait son apparition le 31 août de la même année. Rapidement, Anik Jean est adoptée par le public et ses pairs reconnaissent en elle une personnalité authentique. En effet, l'artiste se démarque par son style, sa musique et son audace. C'est d'ailleurs grâce à ces qualités qu'elle réussit à décrocher la première partie des Rolling Stones, lors de leur passage à Montréal en janvier 2006. En plus du succès rencontré par les extraits radiophoniques, les vidéoclips ont aussi laissé leur trace. Sa complicité avec des réalisateurs comme Francis Leclerc et Robin Aubert lui a permis d'obtenir une nomination aux Much Music Video Awards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LE CIEL SAIGNE LE MARTYRE (2008)
Pour son nouvel album, la rockeuse collabore avec le réalisateur Mark Plati qui a d'ailleurs travaillé aux côtés de nuls autres que David Bowie, Alain Bashung, Louise Attaque et les Rita Mitsouko (pour ne nommer que ceux-là). Elle a su s'entourer de musiciens tout aussi talentueux tels que Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Sam Harrisson, Jean-Sébastien Chouinard, Alec McElcheran, Nic Payne, Julien Blais et Antoine Gratton. Le résultat est convainquant : Le ciel saigne le martyre est un album rock et intense, à l'image de l'artiste. Ce deuxième opus démontre bien la maturité acquise par Anik Jean depuis la sortie du premier album et confirme une fois de plus la grandeur de son talent. La pièce Oh mon chéri est le premier extrait de cet album à gravir les palmarès radio et déjà, la réaction du public est impressionnante. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From a young age Anik Jean has been interested in the blues and in the world of concerts. She was only 11 years old when she expressed a wish to become a singer / songwriter. All she needed was a David Bowie concert, which she attends with her mother, to persuade her to become musician. She learned the fundamentals of the guitar, of the flute, the piano and became an innovative artist. Over the years she has lived on the Gapse coast, in Los Angeles and in Montreal. On her road she met artists as creative as herself, like Jean Leloup, with whom she produced her first album. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LE TRASHY SALOON (2005)---------------------------------------------------------------------
It is in spring on 2005 when Anik Jean's first single was serviced to radio. She quickly gained chart positions with "Je suis partie". The next single "Junkie de toi" showed an even better success than the first single. The album Trashy Saloon made its appearance on August 31st of the same year. Very quickly the public adopted Anik Jean and her peers acknowledged a genuine personality in her. The artist made her mark with her style, her music and her boldness. It is thanks to these qualities that she accomplished being asked to open for the Rolling Stones during their passing in Montreal in January 2006.
Besides the success of the radio singles, videos also left their mark. Her participation with film directors as Francis Leclerc and Robin Aubert earned her a nomination at the Much Music Video Awards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LE CIEL SAIGNE LE MARTYRE (2008)
For her new album, the rock musician collaborated with producer Mark Plati who has also worked with such artists as David Bowie, Alain Bashung, Louise Attaque and Rita Mitsouko (to name a few). She surrounded herself with gifted musicians such as Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Sam Harrisson, Jean-Sebastian Chouinard, Alec McElcheran, Julien Blais and Antoine Gratton. The result is convincing: Le ciel saigne le martyr is an intense rock album, which well represents the artist. This second opus shows the maturity acquired by Anik Jean since the release of her first album and confirms the greatness of her talent one more time. The song "Oh mon cheri" is the first single from this album to climb up the radio charts and the public's reaction is impressive. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
