The Liberation of Sisyphus - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 28, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This music belongs to John Stevens. I am posting this for my family, friends and the composer.

Andrew Noble and the Middle Tennessee State University MTSU Tuba/Euphonium Octet perform John Stevens' work for solo tuba and octet. This virtuosic work was written for and conceptualized by Roger Bobo. It is based on the mythological story of Sisyphus who was condemned to roll a stone up a hill for eternity.

The sound is from a Sony video camera microphone and does not capture the full sonority of the ensemble or the solo. The pitch on the last note was slightly off in performance, but it levels out and the ensemble "liberates" the soloist.

The piece begins at 1:25, after we tune.

Here are the performers:
Greg McCracken - conductor
Andrew Noble - soloist

L to R Euphoniums:
Brad Keesler, Jonathan Little, Matthew Cantrell, Andrew Janes

L to R Tubas:
Justin Miller, Nathan Runyon, Edward McFedders, Alex Kraft
