Oliver Baptiste (real name Andrew Oliver Baptiste) is an international Dj, Model and Actor, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario Canada. He is proudly of Jamaican heritage and keeps his roots close to his heart. Oliver started modeling in Toronto and soon after began traveling internationally to markets like New York, London England and South Africa with Base Models and becoming the face of major brands such as BMW, Adidas and Polo South Africa.

Prior to his modeling career, Oliver had always had a fixation with music of all kinds: from reggae, jazz, house and funk as far back as the early 80’s. He often dates his love of music back to childhood where at the age of 15 when he played on his first set of turntables. It was however the interesting combination of his international exposure as a model and his love of music, that quickly turned into a long awaited plan to becoming a real international DJ.

As a model with a very promising career, Oliver (then called Andrew) has worked for various prestigious brands and even landed on the cover of international magazines, such as Wanted and Men’s Health. Due to his rising modeling career, he has travelled through London, Australia, New Zealand, Angola, Egypt and South Africa, and even The Philippines, where he shot his first speaking commercial with Manny Pacquiao. But he never lost his hunger for DJing. Every city he went to, he was sure to take in the big house music clubs and soon found himself opening for some of the world’s biggest international Djs, even if it was for free. What the people didn’t expect was soon to be dance floor sovereignty, which led to his first residency at Karma Nightclub in Cape Town, South Africa, where he lived for over 7 years intermittently.
Oliver’s natural ability to mix smooth afro-beats with tech/techno house at high points makes him a man who makes the people move from start to finish. He is humble yet masterful in the way he plays and pays great homage to some of his inspirations: Lil Louie Vega, Todd Terry, Kenny Dope and Tony Humphries respectively. You will often see him getting lost in his beats, performing for the crowd in a very bespoke look of bow ties and carefully selected sweaters and button up shirts. Not your typical Dj attire to say the least. He is without a doubt an anomaly.

In a very short time frame, he started his rise to international recognition and secured residencies in London, The Philippines and Cape Town once again from its opening night of the illustrious Club Reserve in 2011 and distinguished himself as one South Africa’s elite Djs. The year when afro beats and kwaito dominated the international market and sounds from Dennis Ferrer, hometown favourite, Black Coffee, Nic Fancuilli, The Martinez Brothers and Marco Carola were must plays. With his special touch, those music mavericks took on a whole new meaning to the people droned by the sounds of Oliver’s sets.

Oliver continues to inject his contagious sounds with his sold out appearances. at TIFF(Toronto International Film Festival) Lightbox and major events like The World Cup in South Africa in 2010, The J&B Met, and named Dj represented by Belvedere. He is the Canadian music Ambassador for the house music world and is incomparably the next big thing on the Dj Scene.
