Monte Carlo simulation of diffusion in a crowded environment (kBT=0.2) - Video
PUBLISHED: Jul 31, 2013
DESCRIPTION: Simulation performed by summer research intern Brandy Grove, Kent State University, along with grad students Andrew Konya, Thanh Son Nguyen, and Prof. Robin Selinger. Lattice gas model of a mixture in two dimensions with two diffusing species, "tracers" with an imposed gradient across the cell, and "blockers" at density of 10%. In this simulation, the blocker species is phase separating at an intermediate temperature kBT=0.2J where -J is the energy of block-blocker nearest neighbor interaction. Flux of tracer pushes the blocker clusters from the source on the left toward the sink on the right where they aggregate.
