So, I went on honeymoon and did this. Lakeshore Limited (NY-Chicago), then California Zephyr (Chicago-SF). Definitely won't be the last US train trip I take (if I can help it, anyway). Took the cheapest GoPro you can buy and shot a minute or two of footage per day, figuring I'd probably end up doing something with it, and well - looks like I did! Somehow when scoring that, what came out was whimsical alt rock and post-metal... oh well.

Pedals used were the Caroline Wave Cannon, my ProCo Rat clone, Boss PS2, Boss PS5, Boss BF3, Digitech Space Station, Red Panda Particle and percussion was provided by some pots and pans from the kitchen.
