American Steel-Band Practice-Shrapnel - Video

DESCRIPTION:
A lot of people ask what an American Steel practice is like. When we are writing a record/getting ready to record we'll practice 4 days a week. When we book a show or tour we'll practice two days a week leading up to the event, usually starting about two to three months before the event. Practices are always sober, not booze free, but not party time. Band practice is to get you ready for the party (tour!!). We usually show up about the same time and start setting up/tuning/dusting off our gear. While setting up we catch up on our weeks, crack a beer and talk about what we'll do at practice. We have a dry erase board that has a list of songs that we're currently playing live on one side and a list of new songs with working titles and notes on the other. We usually start at the top of the list and work our way down, stopping only to comment on the song, make jokes or sip a beverage. When we're done we'll go over songs that needed attention and run through them as much as needed. This all takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
