Here is my version of the guitar solo from the outro of AMERICAN GIRL by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Mike Campbell has mentioned that there are no 12 strings on the song, just layered guitars. I sampled by Rickenbacker 360 V 64 12 string for the main part and used my 1966 Fender Telecaster (Mike used a Fender Broadcaster) for the outro. The sound gets a little mushy as there are two guitars going through the one amp .Any excuse to play these two lovey guitars!! I hope you enjoy the clip. The chords I play are D major,E7, G major and A major.
