Rising from the ashes of the Grand Rapids based progressive thrash metal band Beyond All Reckoning, bassist James Kennedy decided enough was not enough. He had a vision of a band put together based on friendship and personalities, rather than basing a band on talent alone.

After recruiting newcomer Jeff Bailey on rhythmn guitar & long time friend Adam Ford on vocal duties, the band began to take shape. The choice was easy for the lead guitar position - Beyond All Reckoning's shred master Andrew Mepham. Now came the hard part; who is going to play drums? After answering a replacement drum ad for B.A.R., some new blood emerged. 19 year old Derrick Duemler became the obvious choice for the position. Unseasoned & non-jaded, he will blast you a new one with his passion for percussion.

With all the positions filled, they instantly started to think of names. Adam wanted a band name that reflected the duality and contradictions represented in his lyrics. "There's so much beauty in the world, while at the same time so many horrible things. I am a very optimistic pessimist and I believe my lyrics portray that. Although I write negative sounding lyrics at times, I always have an underlying theme of hope. It might not be bluntly stated, but there is always a silver lining."

Vegas Knife Fight combines the beauty and the glamour associtated with Las Vegas, as well as the violence that comes from a brutal back alley knife fight. Regardless of what a name like Vegas Knife Fight makes you think, this band is unmistakable. Heavy yet melodic, trashy with a little classy, these dudes will show you a rockin' good time.
