DESCRIPTION:
Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) composed his Sonata for Violin and Piano in 1942-3, at the request and insistence of violinist Ginette Neveu. He dedicated the piece to Spanish polymath Gabriel Garcia Lorca.
He says about his piece, and string writing in general : "Le monstre est au point, je vais commencer la réalisation.
Recorded in the Larry Sitsky Recital Room, ANUSoM, Canberra, 2012.
Ewan Foster, violin ; Adam James Cook, piano
