Ali's recording career started while she was studying visual art. She wrote a song to accompany her first 3D animation short, Robots For Everyone. It was an instant smash hit.with her animation class. She wrote and recorded 10 more songs to complete her Self Titled Album. The next clear step for Ali was to start playing these songs in live shows. The next clear step for Ali's friends was to unenthusiastically attend said live shows. Yes, people came. And people listened. or wore very convincing listening faces. But live acoustic music is far from a party. Ali wanted a party
Ali knew her live show needed an overhaul. She wanted to create an entertaining concert that engaged the audience. What's more engaging than a game? And what's more entertaining that drinking? The answer is a drinking game. So Ali began challenge of creating The Power Hour Album. She wrote 60 songs about drinking. And they're all one minute long. Her concerts became chaotic/awesome/ridiculous drinking games. Yes, people came. And people drank a shot of beer when she started a new song every minute. Ali got her party.
While performing her power hour concerts Ali also started writing dance music and choreographed a number to her track titled Programmatic. This caught the attention of 5LMNT LLC. and they contacted Ali to create songs for the Free Of Style Dance Convention 2007 in Pittsburgh. The result was the dance album, Free Of Style. This was also a party. The VP of Engineering at Google enjoyed the party enough to put the track titled Radiation as a ringtone on Android phones.
For her fourth album, The Ego, Ali took the catchy pop melodies from her Self Titled Album and mixed them with the hip hop/dance sound from Free Of Style. The result was a 6-Track EP of "smart dance music that embraces fun" [Pittsburgh City Paper]. In other words, a party.
