Feeding the flame is a powerful track. It evokes passion, inspiration and rebelliousness. Its sound is huge and cinematic, driving and hot blooded with a sense of a continuously striving forwards road trip.
Set in a near future where our world is crippled by corporations and environmental neglect, we follow our protagonists (the band) as they "awaken" to the truth and decide to fight the "flame" by feeding it with rebelliousness and decisive action to free themselves.
The City is fed by sucking "blue energy" and expulses a "red energy" wall of fire which surrounds its distant perimeter, preventing anyone getting away.
The band find themselves drawn to each other by fate. Likeminded and determined, they embark on a journey to leave everything behind, as nothing has meaning anymore.
With the help of others who spur them on, helping them on what now has become some sort of "quest" for freedom: to feed the flame and discover it's illusion.. to a better place beyond.
After a "revelation" fire camp scene, they meet a young woman whose gift is her ability to control fire. They manage to acquire a beaten up car to take them to the perimeter fire wall..
We follow them as they drive away passing old ship wrecks abandoned on land, fires burning and distant columns of smoke. Desolate and sparse. Leaving the blue energy city behind.
As they approach the daunting fire wall, they realise it is only an illusion. Feeding it with their red energy of determination, they manage to pass through to the other side.. What
awaits is a new reality. A freedom...
Shot in a widescreen cinematic style, stark, barren and slight sci-fi genre with vfx shots, its trailer style of editing giving it a powerful yet easy pace.
Directed by Andrew Merlino.
