Adsorb aka Adam Dowding is a DJ/Producer living in London who has been DJ’ing since the early nineties. His musical journey started off by playing at Free/Rave parties in around the South West of the UK and getting involved with a local sound system called Mumbo Jumbo. Then from attending some of the legendary free parties/festivals; Castle Morten, Chipping Sodbury, Salmon Springs and DJing with some of the cutting edge, underground sound systems at the time such as DIY and Spiral Tribe he caught the bug early, knew this was something that he wanted to take seriously and decided to pursue this as a career.

He then moved to Sheffield to set up and managed the Award winning recording studio Kenwood Studios for 6 years homing his production skills alongside in house engineer Toddla T, working with artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Jazzy Jeff, Nightmares On Wax, Cash Money and Roots Manuva. Over the last three years he has spent his time going back to his roots and has been DJing with Supercharged/Against The Grain travelling internationally and throughout the major clubs and festivals in the UK.

As resident DJ for Supercharged in Brighton he has in the past played alongside the likes of the Plump DJ's, Stanton Warriors, Drummatic Twins, Bass Kleph, Napt, Noisia, Dub Pistols, Tayo, Rogue Element and Killa Kela, DJ'd as part of the Against The Grain Showcase in the main room at Fabric Live and had an exclusive DJ mix featured twice on Annie Nightingales Radio One show as one of the best mixes of 2008 alongside Pendulum.

But, if last year was anything to go by he certainly means business for the future, starting off with being nominated for 'Best Breakthrough DJ' at Breakspoll, the International Breakbeat awards held at Fabric, he opened up the main room at Matter in the O2 arena for the launch of Krafty Kuts's 'Evening with Krafty Kuts' night playing alongside Format, Cash Money and Pendulum then went on to be featured again at the second event at Matter alongside A-Skills, Freestylers, Rahzel, Jungle Brothers and Shy FX. He has also toured prolifically alongside Krafty Kuts at many venues throughout the UK hosting nights by Finger Lickin Records and Against The Grain.

He was featured in August’s edition of DJ magazine as one of the hottest DJ’s to look out for that month, he played at Annie Nightingale's Radio One opening party at Glastonbury Festival that was featured live on Radio One, smashed a peak time slot at the Glade festival in the Nuskool Breaks tent, headlined a two day festival in Phuket Thailand called ‘Royfest’, playing to around 20’000 people, he completed his first solo tour of Australia, DJ’d throughout Bangkok and the North of Thailand and featured alongside the Stanton Warriors at Bed Supperclub in Bangkok as part of their Asia tour.

Adsorb’s production skills have also built him a great reputation over the last few years, his unique blend of re-edits are getting played out by many of the leading A-list DJ’s and gaining global appreciation from DJ’s around the world.

He started producing these edits as a way of making his DJ sets completely unique and fresh but realising their popularity and effect on the dance floor this was something to build on and push boundaries with. One of the edits ‘Montezuma’ by Wolfgang Gartner went on to be featured on Krafty Kuts’s Fabric Live CD, then followed a twisted Breaks version of MGMT’s ‘Kids’ gaining Radio One support and a huge response from crowds all over the world, at festivals and being played by the likes of Uttah Saints and the Stanton Warriors on their Australian 2009 tour.

He then worked with Krafty Kuts on a monster Beaks version of Miles Dyson’s ‘Anthem’, which got substantial support again from the Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, air play on Jay Cunnings Kiss 100 show and Annie’s Radio One show. Most recently though he produced a Breaks mix of Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Bonkers’ reaching global recognition and a version of Star Killers ‘Bitch Ass Trick’ that has been tearing up dance floors world-wide.

Alongside his edits Adsorb was busy in the studio last year, securing six official remixes with reputable labels in the UK. Firstly a remix on Against The Grain ‘Party People’ by Splitloop, which got air-play on Kiss FM, reached number 4 in the beatport top 100 Breaks chart and also gaining major support on Radio 1. He remixed ‘Lucky Bitches’ by Access Denied on Westway Records, which reached number 4 in the mixmag Breaks & Beats chart, number 3 in the DJdownload chart and tune of the week on Kiss FM.

He worked for Breakin Even Records remixing their Funky Hero’s single that again was supported on Kiss FM. Against The Grain then approached him to remix Deekline & Wizard’s ‘Fire’ which is now featured on their remix album.

Kid Kenobi also set up a brand new imprint ‘Klub Kids’ and asked him to remix their debut single ‘Too Fresh’ that gained huge support throughout Australia and on itunes. He then went on to remix another Access Denied single for Westway Records ‘Freelancer’ that got great reviews in DJ mag and support in the UK.

So, it seems that Adsorb is certainly focused, his DJ sets are going from strength to strength, his main focus for this year is original material and bigger and better produced shows, he has serious ideas and plans about the future and if last years achievements are to go by he is definitely one to be watching in 2010…
