The Making of Tahriib 'Dangerous Crossings' - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 08, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
UNHCR launched a major campaign to spread awareness about the dangers of traveling to war-stricken Yemen crossing the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea from Africa. With the help of prominent musicians from Ethiopia, Somalia and Egypt, UNHCR created a song to make people think very carefully before deciding to cross to Yemen which has been torn by war since March 2015 and where an estimated 7,100 people have been killed, 44,000 injured and more than 2 million displaced.

Somali artists Aarmaanta and Maryam Mursal together with Ethiopian artists Tadele Roba, Yeshi Demelash, Dawit Nega and Egyptian artist Hany Adel joined UNHCR to create the song and music video.

The music was arranged by acclaimed Hollywood producer George Acogny and the video was directed by Egyptian film director Amr Salama.

The campaign is being launched in collaboration with the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA), a Monaco-based international NGO.
