At 79 years old, Andre Williams is a music legend you may not even know. He worked at seminal labels such as Motown Records, Chess Records, and Fortune Records. He's written songs for and produced acts like Ike Turner, Stevie Wonder, Official: Edwin Starr, and George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. After a few hard years into his "retirement", he stormed back in the late 90's and has since recorded with Demolition Doll Rods, The Dirtbombs, The Sadies, Jon Spencer, and Two-Star Tabernacle, which included a very young Jack White. His resurgence in popularity and notoriety continues with his new Bloodshot Records release, I Wanna Go Back to Detroit City, on Bloodshot Records, a compelling collection of nine tracks that highlight his singular, chameleon-like style of raw garage soul, as heard on tracks like "What Now?".
