First the crunch of heavy guitar chords grab you. Then the pounding of solid bass drums thump you. Next you are assaulted with bass lines that makes your soul shake. Only to have your heart spoken to by an almost radiophonic, soulful voice that pleads to not be left "ALONE."

That is how your emotional journey begins when you place the debut CD "ONE OF US" from DownLo into your CD player. Next you're told a heart wrenching story of a young child terrified of the dark. A story told to you in true DownLo fashion with emotion charged vocals and music energized in such a way that you can feel the adrenaline caused by the childhood nightmares which inspired the song.

The journey continues taking you on a roller coaster of sorts as DownLo dares life to throw at them what it may. They'll be standing there until the "LAST BELL" rings. From the ups of "FRAME OF MIND", to the downs of "EPITAPH", (a song written for friends Jason Glasco and Drowning Pool front man Dave Williams after their untimely deaths just weeks apart), to the anger of "F.O."(just hear the song and you'll understand), to the social commentary of "UNMASK"(recorded live),to the satire of "ON YOU CROSS", you get more than your monies worth with "ONE OF US" and DownLo.

Emotion. Energy! Soul. Angst! Pure Unadulterated Rock! This is the essence of DownLo.

Their own journey together began in January 2002 when singer Howard Hancox, Jr., drummer Clint Barlow, and bassist Todd Campbell decided they'd had enough of their former band. They were ready for a change; a change of pace, a change of style, a change of players. So change is what they got. Through several auditions they labored to find the right sound. The right mix. The right feel, the right "one". On the verge of giving up they found Christian Cabang (yes that is really his last name) "He just had "it" what ever "it" is that we were looking for. We got together through a mutual friend, and in our first rehearsal wrote three songs that eventually became our first demo" says front man Howard Hancox. And with that demo DownLo set out to regain fans of their former band and create a whole new legion of followers. That's exactly what they did. Members of DownLo could be spotted at every rock music event of any kind handing out demo CD's and inviting people to "Come see the only thing better than that CD you have... DownLo live" drummer Clint Barlow.

People came, people saw and people loved DownLo. To the tune of over 500 when they finally released the long awaited CD "ONE OF US". A CD recorded at Dallas' own Maximedia studios. It was produced and engineered by Eddie Head ( Hajis Kitchen ) and mastered by Eddie Schreyer of Oasis Mastering in California. "I knew we would end up with something completely bad ass when we hooked up with Eddie Head and Eddie Schreyer (Korn, Incubus, Tool). Not everybody gets the opportunity to have talent like that involved with a recording" said bassist Todd Campbell.

The CD was released after a year of playing which some consider to be a short time. Yet it was a year that saw DownLo grow from a new and unknown band to one of the biggest in the not so small town of Dallas, TX. "We can hold our own with just about anyone. We have an intense show, with lots of heart and soul, and energy. The crowd gives us love and we give it right back" guitarist Christian Cabang. The energy is felt from the beginning when the audience is warned "If you're not hear to rock and have a good time you're in the wrong place, and you need to get the "F" out. The love is felt with the now customary toast "To being happy and living your dreams. Come hell or high water" DownLo has shared the stage with the likes of Days of the New, Drowning Pool, Seven Mary Three, Oleander, and Prong to name a few. They posses a sound that rocked by the staunchest of hard rockers, loved by the dancers of pop, and felt by lovers of R&B. They stand poised to bring that sound to the hordes of music lovers craving a breath of fresh air to music. Rocking like the big boys, and loved by all who see or hear them, DownLo is definitely "READY FOR THE BIG TIME". It's just a matter of time... but not much!
