We are an indie-rock/dub/rap band called Fallstars, and we need your help completing our debut music project. This is not your typical album, though - it's much more. Introducing a new concept...

ISLAND IN THE SKY: AN ALBUM THAT YOU LISTEN TO BY WATCHING A FILM.

Imagine consuming an album in an entirely new way; a short film which plays out as a musical. The album then becomes the soundtrack to the motion picture - an auditory take away that conjures images that are reminiscent of the story told in the film.

We looked at how young people are listening to music - watching music video singles on YouTube is great, but it has diminished the narrative power of an album listened beginning to end. A short film for Fallstars was the logical next step in recouping storytelling over a number of tracks, not to mention its uniqueness as a point of marketability.

WHO ARE FALLSTARS?

We are a band consisting of singer-songwriter Stu Groen, drummer Tash Adams (She Rex), and rapper Terry Munroe (206collab), straddling the world between Sydney and New York.

One track into the project, Stu passed away tragically. A year later, his brother granted access to his laptop where one hundred odd sessions, from sketches to fully fleshed songs, were preserved. The best were selected and became the basis of the Fallstars sound - a fusion of indie-rock and dub, interlaced with Terry's introspective raps and Stu's original vocals. The latter are eerily powerful from the grave.

HOW YOU CAN HELP.

We've come a long way. We've got all six songs mixed and mastered to perfection, and we're now holding a final edit of the film in our hands. It's all sounding and looking great, and we're excited to bring this project to your ears and (eyes)!

However, a number of scenes require spectacular visual effects before we can move on and put the finishing touches on the film. And as you know, these are time and labour intensive.

We've projected a conservative budget of $7500, with your donations going directly towards securing a talented team to work on the visual effects and finishing components of the film.

Our core team has had huge successes with previous album releases on hip hop label hatonrack, numerous music videos, and most recently with YouTube series The Justice Lease. You can rest assured that your contribution is going towards a high-end production that we can all be proud of.
