1969 Dan Armstrong Plexi Bass In For Trisonic Pickups Conversion, New Bridge, and Setup - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 03, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Here we have a very cool 1969 Dan Armstrong Plexi Bass that a client brought in which was in desperate need of some restoration work, including replacing the bad pickup, replacing the chopped up bridge, electronics work, and a full setup. Since original Dan Armstrong Plexi body pickups are hard to come by without talking BIG BUCKS, I opted, instead, to mod a pair of Trisonic pickups to fit in the existing cavity, and mounted the pair the exact same way as the original pickup. I also replaced the original bridge, that the previous owner had stupidly decided to cut into pieces, with a repro Danelectro bridge that I also modded to fit just right. After some strategic shimming and angle adjusting, I got everything to line up with just the right action of 3/32". The tone is huge, yet articulate. The feel of the action is fantastic and the bass plays very cool! I think the client is going to be quite pleased!
