<*Fishing is known to be one of the more arduous occupations a man could choose to earn a living. Denied a normal family life or social activities, we fishermen risk our lives in all weathers for little reward. Our steam trawler crew aboard the Quoped consists of ten men. We spend weeks out at sea and are only home for a few days. We party hard when we have the chance and the harbour towns are packed with pubs catering to the fishermen's habit of binge drinking and experimental music. Four of us have formed a bond, a visionary brotherhood lusting for the grand haul from the deep and the necessity to encapsulate in sonic vibrations, the expression of our soul's at sea.
We name ourselves 10-D PJ, for we feel on board we are together, Ten Dimensional Psychic Juicers. We are compelled to express ourselves, as relationships can be difficult.
There is always a tension between we fishermen and our loved ones. Not only might we die at sea, but we lead reckless lives on shore as well. Failed marriages are common place, you can ask Don Lope about that! Away from home for long periods, brawling, sound sampling and lucid dreaming of the Sirens Peisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepeia seem to go with the territory. A fisherman's wage has always come from his share of the catch. This 'great gamble' was a part of the attraction, one week nothing, the next a huge haul. Our day could be 24 hours long, with most of the hauls made at night.
The little rest that is available is taken lying on a bone hard locker, discussing the merits of Arvo Pärt as a religious visionary. Contained within this page are sounds from this 10-D PJ brotherhood.
