Live @ The Orbit Room - Dallas, Texas

Setlist is forthcoming, since I am in renewed contact with Eric Lumbleau, the Vocalist in this Performance and 1/2 of VDO's present form.

VDO is a Psychedelic/Industrial/Noise Collective from Dallas, Texas, that primarily has only worked "In the Studio". This is the ONLY Live Performance on Video from this band.

I was fortunate at the time to be "hanging around" at VDO Studios, Preserving other bands like Primitivecho, Coprolingus & Cult Ceavers, who (among others) were recording with Matt Castille and Eric Lumbleau, who had a State of the Art ADAT Studio set up in downtown Dallas, Texas.

In fact, since I had lost my ride home in the drunken confusion, I stayed at VDO Studios that morning after the show and rode the DART Bus home the afternoon of the next day.

Notes from Eric Lumbleau of VDO:

This performance was the only show of ours to have taken place since the time that VDO became the partnership of Matt (Castille) and me in 1995, though there were a few gigs undertaken during the time of VDO's first line-up, which existed from about 1993 to early 1995 (this line-up can be found on VDO's first and second s/t tape releases) and took place at the time when Jason and Barbara Cohen from Forbidden Books were in the band. There have been no subsequent VDO performances, though this is set to change in the next year or two once I've moved from Dallas to California, where Matt now lives. Regarding the set list, this was actually original material composed solely for the show and discarded afterward (one of the reasons why it's so great to be able to see this footage again) and none had any formal titles.

One thing that truly does bear mentioning in the accompanying text, is that this gig features the late great Doug Ferguson of Yeti and Ohm (in addition to VDO) on keyboards, who's become something of a legendary figure since his passing. (see article here: http://www.dallasobserver.com/2002-03-07/music/transcendental-blues/)

Given the nature of the music and the sorta audience it will likely attract, it might also pay to note bassist David Fargason's involvement as being a member of Liquid Sound Company instead of The Necrotonz, as Liquid Sound Company have gotten a latter day cult following in psych collector circles and are definitely the more known entity of the two in terms of having an established legacy outside of Deep Ellum nightclubs.
