Zac Leger seems never able to stay in one place for very long. Born in San Diego, Ca, he has lived in eastern Tennessee, Atlanta, Columbus, Ohio, Virgina and Tampa, Florida. He is largely self-taught, and an award winning uilleann piper, multi-instrumentalist , performer and composer. Zac was a gold medalist in the 2003 Mid-Atlantic Fleadh, taking several other medals on other instruments. He also holds a senior All-Ireland piping title, one of only several Americans to ever place in this prestigeous event. He has played and toured with a number of groups such as Pictou, Sigean, Glen Road, The Border Collies and Finnegan's aWake and he was the featured piper in the 2007 Irish dance show "Emerald Beat" based at Busch Gardens Theme Parks. He has also performed, played and recorded with many of the leading lights in Irish and Celtic music including fiddler Liz Carroll, guitarist John Doyle, ethnomusicologist and Irish music legend Mick Moloney, fiddler Athena Tergis, guitarists Al Pettiway and Amy White, cittern-player Joseph Sobol, piper Neil Anderson, Rathkeltair, Mike Dugger (ex-Scartaglen), Flute player John Skelton, accordionists John Whelan and David Munnelly, Northern Irish uilleann Piper Brendan Monaghan and old-time fiddling legend Ralph Blizard and opened for bands like Nickel Creek and Teada. He is currently a member of Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul and the Irish-based Celtic Crossroads. In his travels all over the U.S., Canada and Ireland he has performed for former president Jimmy Carter and former first lady Roselynn, late NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt (and many other well-known racing personalities), the late actress Fay Wray (of the original "King Kong") and Alan White, drummer for the rock band great, YES. He is one of the founding members of the young rising Irish American trad band, Oisre and is the current touring partner and accompanist for award-winning Scottish fiddler Jamie Laval.

Capable of soulful piping, flowing flute playing, driving guitar rhythms and gentle yet powerful vocals, his diverse talents will be making a mark on traditional Irish music for years to come. Now once again based in his home state of California, Zac is available for concerts, recording sessions and private lessons. Please e-mail for more information. Lessons over Skype now available!

Look for Zac's long awaited solo album to be released soon! More info and performance dates to follow.
