DESCRIPTION:
Yurodny SciLens incorporates the design and build of new gestural systems for mapping real-time physical movement data to create a new sensor-augmented language for the contemporary interpretation of traditional music.
Yurodny SciLens - Haivka is an exploration of repertoire from a defined geographical territory – the traditional music of Ukraine.
The premiere of the programme was performed at St. Carthage’s Cathedral as part of the Lismore Music Festival on May 29th 2014 and recorded at the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) in Belfast in June 2014.
The project was supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Music Network.
The work will be released on Diatribe Records, Ireland's leading label for new music, in 2015.
