DESCRIPTION:
Truth Serum is inspired by my own story and the story of many immigrants from developing countries that I have met over time. Folks from Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe etc who come to western countries in search of a better life, they all have the same stories, they deal with the same issues and more importantly they overcome the same trials and tribulations. In most cases they succeed in making a better life for themselves and those they care about and in some cases the weight of the world is too much to bear

The ones who succumb to the pressures become the homeless and destitute among us. They should not be forgotten.I feel their stories need telling.

In the wake of the economic recession, it becomes apparent that some elements in society take out their frustrations on those who look slightly different, talk different, dress different or have a different belief.

What society sometimes forgets is the great amount of personal sacrifice they make in leaving their homes, family and friends to venture into the unknown. To a new country, new culture, new language - all this compounded by great uncertainty and incredible home sickness.

"But it makes an immigrant laugh to hear the fears of the nationalist, scared of infection, penetration, miscegenation, when this is small fry, peanuts, compared to what the immigrant fears - dissolution, disappearance."

One Love.

Simba.

Truth Serum is a track off the upcoming mix-tape by S.I.M.B.A titled Tsunami 1 : Winter of Discontent.
